Appleseed Landscapes aims to provide a professional gardening service with a social purpose, as well as boasting an impressive portfolio of work and satisfied customers.

Our Vision... To provide training and skills development in horticulture
Our Mission... Working in the community to enable people to overcome individual challenges through a range of horticulture projects
Appleseed has a proven track record of:
- helping people
- contributing to the community
- improving the environment

As one of the KET projects, Appleseed provides opportunities for trainees to work alongside the team of experienced gardening professionals. Not only does the trainee gain skills in horticulture, they also gain a sense of purpose through the routine of a working day and achieving goals. Trainees also attend college to improve their basic skills and can gain a level 1 or 2 NVQ in horticulture.
Our fully insured and criminal records bureau (CRB) checked garden specialists provide a reliable service all year round including:
- design and garden makeover
- advice
- planting
- vegetable gardens and raised beds
- mowing and garden maintenance
- pruning
- hedge cutting
- weeding
- landscaping
- sensory and mini-beast educational gardens
- supply of plants, hanging baskets, containers etc.
- composting
Working with schools and local community groups to create a better sense of community and identity.
Appleseed is now working from Webb’s Garden in Canterbury, a lovely walled garden in the grounds of St. Martin’s Hospital in Canterbury. Every Wednesday afternoon gardeners, volunteers and service users will be working on an area of fertile soil as well as a polytunnel. We will be laying a stepping stone path and planting cuttings of shrubs and fruit bushes. There is also plenty of weeding and clearing on the paths.
We welcome volunteers and people in receipt of a budget from social services to come along and join us. Groups are welcome – we can even pick up groups of 5+ in our minibus.
For those who are very keen, there is the opportunity to progress on to working with Appleseed Landscapes in private gardens.
Contact Chrissi Martin on 01227 844476 c.martin@enterprisetrust.org to join in.
Appleseed has designed, planned and installed sensory and minibeast gardens in local schools. Not only does this improve the schools' facilities, but by including the children in the process it helps the schools to achieve some of the Every Child Matters outcomes e.g. "make a positive contribution, enjoy and achieve".

Working with residential homes and housing associations
Our team works at residential homes to provide a beautiful and productive environment for residents. We can include residents in the upkeep of gardens, providing meaningful activity for residents at the same time as improving the gardens. All of this work is made possible through the provision of gardening services by a qualified, professional team.
Green Gardening to save money and offset your carbon footprint
Appleseed reduces the impact on the environment through a number of means, including turning waste products into mulch whenever possible. Garden waste can be taken away to be composted and some months later used to lay on your flowerbeds, improving the soil condition and reducing the need for watering, weeding and further general maintenance.
We can reduce your waste from kitchen and garden by installing compost bins in your garden made from re-cycled waste wood, or new timber, or ready-made plastic.
We can build vegetable beds in your garden and help get you going with "growing your own".
